Biography
Dr Paolo Rinaudo is a Professor in residence of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of California San Francisco. He earned both his medical degree and doctorate at the University of Turin. He completed a residency in OBGYN at Yale University and a fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology at the University of PennsylvaniaAs a clinician he focuses on treating patients with infertility. The goal of his basic research is to understand how IVF affect fetal and adult development. His laboratory has created a mouse model of IVF for better analyzing long-term health outcome. One avenue of research analyzes in utero and postnatal growth of IVF conceived mice and childrenA second avenue of research analyzes the molecular mechanisms (ROS production, mitochondria function, epigenetic changes) that are altered in embryos following culture in vitro, with the goal to optimize culture conditions and improve health outcomes.
