Speaker Profile
Biography
Dr. Sanjay Jain is a distinguished Professor at Washington University in St. Louis. He also serves as the Director of the Kidney Translational Research Center. Dr. Jain's research focuses on understanding the cellular and molecular mechanisms that establish and maintain kidney organization, and homeostasis, utilizing advanced single-cell and spatial multi-omic technologies. His work aims to define factors that prevent cellular injury or promote repair from injury to healthy states including in chronic kidney disease, acute kidney injury, and diabetic nephropathy. His approach integrates innovative genetic models and human tissue research. His extensive publication record and contributions have earned him recognition in the field, including involvement with the NIH Human Biomolecular Atlas Program (HuBMAP), Kidney Precision Medicine Project (KPMP) and Pediatric Centers of Excellence in Nephrology (PCEN). Dr. Jains work is pivotal in advancing our understanding of kidney health and disease, driving forward the potential for novel therapeutic strategies.
Talk
Human Kidney Atlas in Health and Disease
This talk will describe a multimodal and multiscalar approach on reference and kidney disease samples to unfold cellular diversity in healthy and altered states. Further, spatial organization of niches and cellular interactions and regulatory networks important in transitions from healthy or recovery from kidney injury will be provided
