Biography
Dr. Matthew Solomon joined Sutter Health as its inaugural chief scientific officer in January 2025. In this role, he is advancing research, medical education, and scientific initiatives to elevate clinical excellence across the system.An internationally recognized cardiologist and scientist, Dr. Solomon has more than 12 years of leadership experience developing data-driven programs that strengthen research, guide clinical operations, and enhance patient care. His work includes leveraging AI and machine learning for diagnostic decision-making and predictive modeling to support proactive population health. He most recently served as a physician-scientist at Kaiser Permanente, where he helped shape data-informed clinical strategies.At Sutter, he collaborates with leaders in digital health, innovation, and clinical service lines, while continuing his practice at California Pacific Medical Center. He is also building a system-wide program for patients with aortic disease, an area in which he is internationally known.
