Biography
Dr. David Gandara, renowned for his expertise in lung cancer and thoracic oncology, is a clinician-scientist at UC Davis Health. He is celebrated for his ability to convey complex medical concepts in an accessible manner, recognized by groups like the Addario Lung Cancer Foundation. Dr. Gandara's clinical practice focuses on second opinion consultations in thoracic cancers, emphasizing diagnostics like circulating tumor DNA and next-generation sequencing.A prolific researcher, Dr. Gandara has published over 450 peer-reviewed papers, mainly in developmental therapeutics and biomarker development in lung cancer. He leads significant clinical trials funded by the National Cancer Institute (NCI), exploring new anti-cancer agents. Additionally, he is the Chief Medical Officer of the International Society of Liquid Biopsy and holds leadership roles at UC Davis Cancer Center and the University of Hawaii Cancer Center. His work in patient care, research, and liquid biopsy places him at the forefront of oncological advancements.
