Biography
Yann LeCun is a pioneer of deep learning whose work on convolutional neural networks helped establish the foundations of modern computer vision. His contributions underpin AI methods used in medical image analysis and other applications across science and medicine. He shared the 2018 ACM A.M. Turing Award with Geoffrey Hinton and Yoshua Bengio for foundational advances in deep learning. He founded Facebook AI Research and served as Meta’s Chief AI Scientist. His current research advances self-supervised learning and world models, pursuing AI systems that can understand their environment, reason, and plan.
