Biography
Vinayagam “Vinu” Arunachalam, Ph.D., is Senior Director and Head of Computational Biology and Digital within Early Development and Biomarkers at Takeda. He leads computational and systems-biology efforts that connect multimodal data with target identification, biomarker discovery, disease-pathway analysis, patient stratification, and early clinical development. His work uses genomics, transcriptomics, other omics data, and artificial intelligence to generate evidence that can guide translational and development decisions. Dr. Arunachalam has more than 18 years of experience across pharmaceutical research and academic biomedical science, including work at Pfizer, Harvard Medical School, and the German Cancer Research Center. At Takeda, he has been involved in building workflows that help computational biologists and experimental scientists use purpose-built AI tools together rather than treating data science as a separate function. His focus is on making computational insights reproducible and decision-ready, so that biomarker hypotheses can be tested efficiently and translated into clinical-development strategies across complex diseases.
