 Speaker Profile

M.D., Joanne Knight Distinguished Professor of Neurology at Washington University School of Medicine, director of the Consortium for Biomedical Research and AI in Neurodegeneration (C-BRAIN), Washington U.

Biography
Dr. Bateman's current research focuses on accelerating biomedical breakthroughs through artificial intelligence and machine learning in neurodegeneration. By leading initiatives centered on advanced technology, he guides the development of "AI Scientist" platforms. These scientist-in-the-loop systems leverage generative AI, neural networks, and deep learning to synthesize complex literature, analyze multi-omic datasets, and optimize experimental designs for Alzheimer's drug discovery. In addition to AI-driven research, he pioneered the first high-precision blood tests for Alzheimer’s disease and guides major global research networks and clinical trials units. His work integrates clinical data with predictive machine learning models to map disease pathology decades before symptoms emerge. An elected member of the National Academy of Medicine and National Academy of Inventors, his current mission focuses on scaling global human-AI collaboration to transform patient outcomes.
