Biography
Dr. Fong is the inaugural Bezos Distinguished Scholar and director of the Immunotherapy Integrated Research Center at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center. He is also a Professor of Medicine in the Department of Medicine, Division of Hematology/Oncology in the University of Washington. As a physician-scientist, Dr. Fong has been involved in both pre-clinical and clinical studies of multiple cancer immunotherapies including a cancer vaccine and immune checkpoint inhibitors that are now FDA-approved. His laboratory has defined multiple immunologic mechanisms that underlie response and resistance to immunotherapies that could enable novel treatments. His contributions to the field have been recognized with a National Cancer Institute Outstanding Investigator Award. He serves on the board of directors for the Society for Immunotherapy of Cancer (SITC) and as a senior editor for leading immuno-oncology journals.
