Session Abstract – PMWC 2024 Silicon Valley
The PMWC 2024 Microbial Profiling Showcase will provide a 15-minute time slot for selected companies in the Microbiome and Pathogen ID fields. The human microbiome is composed of a wide variety of microorganisms that are essential for maintaining human health and preventing disease. Research in this area is accelerating due to the rapid development in genome sequencing technologies. This showcase will present some of the leading companies in microbial profiling and pathogen identification.

Biography
Federica Gibellini is a trained molecular and cellular biologist interested in the elucidation of the role of gene mutations in human disease. Dr. Gibellini was a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Hematology Branch under the mentorship of Dr. Adrian Wiestner from 2006-2010, where her research concerned the role of chemokines in tumor progression. Through the years, Dr. Gibellini has developed a diverse range of work experience in research and development and infectious disease, with a particular focus on genetics and laboratory operations.

Personalized UTI Diagnosis: PCR + Culture Combined
UTIs are prevalent outpatient infections, yet existing diagnostic methods fall short. AccessDx Laboratory developed a comprehensive UTI panel combining traditional culture methods and PCR detection of bacterial and fungal pathogens and antibioticresistance genes. By combining PCR and AST results with bioinformatics from Strand's PQRS portal, providers can deliver personalized care at the point of care.
