Speaker Profile
Biography
Dr. Louise Laurent is a distinguished Professor at the University of California, San Diego, where she leads innovative research in obstetrics and gynecology. Her work focuses on the intersection of reproductive sciences, stem cell biology, and multi-omics, with significant contributions to understanding placental development and function. Dr. Laurent is the Principal Investigator of several NIH-funded projects, including the Pregnant Female Reproductive Tissue Mapping Center, and the Multi-Omics of Maternal Health project. Her research also covers characterization of extracellular RNA (exRNA) carriers, advancing our knowledge of cellular communication in pregnancy. Her pioneering work in the Omics Data Generation Center for the Acute to Chronic Pain Signatures (A2CPS) Program highlights her expertise in integrating omics with clinical insights to address complex medical challenges.Dr. Laurent's publications have made significant impacts in fields ranging from environmental science to community-based participatory research for infectious diseases, reflecting her broad expertise and commitment to improving women's health through advanced science.
